Helping Keep Our Classrooms Safe: A Reminder About Squishy Dumpling Toys

Squishy dumpling toys have become increasingly popular with children because they are soft, colorful, and fun to squeeze. While they may seem like harmless stress toys, they can create challenges in the school setting. Over time, these toys can tear or break apart, becoming difficult to keep clean and, in some cases, creating potential choking hazards if small pieces separate. They can also become distractions that take students' attention away from learning.

To help families better understand these concerns, School Committee member Stephen Damiano has created the flyer below outlining the potential risks associated with bringing squishy dumpling toys—and similar squishy toys—to school. We encourage parents and caregivers to review the information with their children and remind them that these toys should be enjoyed at home. By working together, we can help ensure our classrooms remain safe, healthy, and focused environments where every student has the opportunity to learn and succeed.
