Social and Emotional Development

Classroom teachers support student social and emotional development in a variety of ways throughout the school day. Our approach as a school is to provide students with direct instruction and modeling to support the development of the skills necessary to identify and manage emotions, empathize with others, develop positive relationships, and engage with productive problem solving. Social and emotional learning happens consistently throughout the school day for elementary students. We also provide focused lessons through a variety of curricula including Open Circle (www.open-circle.org) and our thematic read aloud series that is aligned with out school wide school culture program, PAWS
